Photos and descriptions reflect conditions that night.

Heading for a cooler spot in Nagano, not too far from Tokyo — north through Shizuoka, then Yamanashi. First stop: Numazu. Population 184,255 (end of August 2025). At 7:55 p.m. I started from the north exit of JR Numazu Station.

The north side still has a slightly shady bar strip — women on the street, snack signs, Ricoh-dori’s alleys. South is the front door. Numazu is a setting for Love Live! Sunshine!!, and fans come from across Japan on pilgrimage; Nakamise hangs with banners and décor. Through the arcade, then back north.

Around the Station

Ticket gates at Numazu Station, a person in red coming out

White light on the gates. Kiosk shuttered on the left; bus canopy on the right. Someone in red comes through.

Lit plaza under a white canopy

White pillars, ceiling light. A purple sign ahead, trees on the right. Four people cut across the stones.

Pillar for Numazu Ricoh-dori Shopping Street at a crosswalk

沼津リコー通り商店街 on the corner pillar, red arrow for the next turn. A white car crosses. Red pachinko light farther on.

Covered sidewalk with two walkers coming toward the camera

Checkerboard tiles. OLYMPIA and ニューオオスビル on the right. Two people walk toward me. A red car passes with its headlights on.

Crowd outside a shop under a Cleaning tile sign

Under a クリーニング tile sign, people gather at the doorway. OPEN in the window; a teal bike. Someone sits with a can. Laundry on the sign — drinking spot at night.

Narrow alley, woman at a red door

The street narrows. A woman by a red door. AC unit and green crates. A white van’s headlights ahead. Snack and club signs in patches.

Karaoke and SNACK Festa signs along the alley

カラオケあります!! and a red lantern. SNACK フェスタ and 姫 on the right. Two men walk deeper; a white car at the curb.

Sakura Yokocho sign and HOTEL 555 board

Purple さくら横丁 on the left. On the fence, HOTEL 555 — 今夜はどっちの気分? A man in blue walks the middle of the road.

Four women walking toward the camera

Pink dress, black off-shoulder, light pink top — four coming this way. A man in black goes the other way.

SALA THAI’s pink sign and a lit Kizuna board

サラタイ on the corner — gold tinsel, red rope, someone on a phone. White 絆 on the wall to the right. A one-way sign, then a darker alley.

Pedestrian underpass with murals and a couple walking

Murals on the white wall. Green railing; round ceiling lamps. A couple walk toward me. Short underpass between station and shops.

Wide road beside a covered walk with anime banners

Anime nobori under the canopy. Wide roadway, headlights far ahead. Arcade light on the far side. Few people. Inside Nakamise, Love Live! Sunshine!! character banners hang from the ceiling.

Crosswalk facing a building with Tully’s Coffee

A man in blue crosses; a woman in black walks this way. Tully’s behind glass. A こなみ banner on the second floor.

Kuretake Inn sign and a woman on her phone

KURETAKE INN on the right. A woman in white checks her phone as she walks. Planters and the road on the left. Station light coming back ahead.

JR Numazu Station sign and a Love Live mural

Orange JR — 沼津駅. Below it, a Love Live! Sunshine!! panel of a station platform. Three people follow the tactile paving toward the doors. Back at Numazu Station for the night.
